11:00 am - "Biblical Self Defense for LGBTQ+ Folks and Allies" Workshop

The celebration begins at 11:00 am  with a workshop from Rev. Leah Robberts-Mosser titled, "Biblical Self Defense for LGBTQ+ Folks and Allies.," Ever notice how certain Biblical passages get used as weapons against LGBTQ+ folks? Learn the history and context of these so-called "clobber passages" AND learn what scripture passages affirm the goodness and worth of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual people. This workshop is free and open to the public, but we are asking people to register for the workshop so we have an idea of how many to expect.

"Rev. Leah Robberts-Mosser is Lead Pastor at Community United Church of Christ, Champaign, IL (CUCC). CUCC is the church with the rainbow flags on campus and is a congregation that has been publicly open to and affirming of LGBTQ+ people since 1995. Pastor Leah is a life-long ally and, in addition to offering this workshop across the country, serves on the Working Group for LGBTQIA Concerns for Cunningham Township of Champaign County."
